ColumBUS fixed route service operates from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Sanitation Department: |
|
Twenty-three full-time & six part-time employees provide refuse collection, commercial cardboard & paper recycling, compost pickups & brush chipping. Under contract with the SWMA we also provide Saturday rural collection at various drop-off sites in the County.

Shop & Garage Department: |
|
Two mechanics maintain the City fleet of packer trucks, dump trucks, loaders, sweepers & various other vehicles. One custodian keeps the garage area in shipshape condition.

MVH Department: |
|
Twenty-two employees are directed by a foreman and supervisor. They have a wide realm of duties depending on the time of year. In the springtime they swing into action with miscellaneous pickups, chuck hole repairs, high water calls, drywell & storm sewer cleaning, and street sweeping for sand removal. Summer brings alley & shoulder grading and stoning, mowing of city property, assisting other departments with projects, and many of their spring duties. When the fall season arrives we gear up for the annual loose leaf program and then winter brings our snow removal crews out. In the dead of winter, crews are still busy with cleaning & waxing all vehicles and deep cleaning and painting the garage.

Traffic Department:

|
This five person department is led by a working foreman. Their duties include maintenance of traffic signals, traffic signs, painting of pavement markings, traffic counts, setting up barricades for temporary traffic control, emergency and special events. You will also find these guys hanging downtown banners for special events.
