Top Ten List of Fire Code Violations

1. Exit Signs must be properly illuminated - Code 1211.2
2. Extinguishers must be serviced yearly - Code 1002(B)
3. Electrical Hazards which could cause a fire - Code 8504
4. Extension cords shall not be in any area in which abuse to the cord can occur - Code 8506.3
5. Exit aisles must not be blocked - Code 1203
6. Any wall, ceiling, or floor that has been breached must be properly repaired or replaced to insure fire resistive construction - Code 1111.1
7. Emergency power for exit signs & Emergency lights must be maintained in proper working order - Code 1212.4
8. Combustibles must be a minimum of 18 inches away from heating appliances - Code 1107.1(A)
9. Address number must be posted on all buildings - Code 901.4.4
10. Extinguishers are required in all business - Code 1002.1(H)
