2009 COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
SIDEWALK REPAIR/REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

The Columbus Department of Community Development is preparing for its 2009 CDBG Sidewalk Improvement Program. This project will be phase 5 of the City’s program to rehabilitate neighborhood infrastructure in residential areas.

This year’s priorities include:

  1. Reed Street, 7th to 10
  2. Werner Street, 8th to 10
  3. 9th Street between Reed and Wilson

Deteriorating sidewalks for residences in this area will be scheduled for repair/replacement as long as funding remains available. ADA ramps will also be installed at intersections without adequate access. Judy Johns Jackson, Community Development Director, said property owners and/or occupants will be notified when/if their sidewalk is to be replaced so that any special needs or concerns can be addressed. Funding for this program is made available through a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The CDBG project is a repair/replacement project only. Anyone interested in the installation of new sidewalks should contact the City Engineer’s Office.

For questions regarding the Community Development program, please call 376-2520 or email communitydevelopment@columbus.in.gov
