Community members are invited to the Final Draft presentation for the State Street Corridor Plan to hear a presentation on the final draft recommendations for revitalizing the State Street area and provide their feedback. The plan’s recommendations include focus on transportation improvements, visual enhancements, suggested land uses, neighborhood revitalization, and business development.
The open house, scheduled between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 28 at City Hall, will begin with a brief presentation at 6:00 p.m. that summarizes the recommendations of the plan. Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to further review the final draft recommendations and provide final comments.
“The State Street area offers tremendous potential for commercial redevelopment and neighborhood revitalization,” Mayor Kristen Brown said. “A comprehensive plan can help guide the future development and revitalization of this important area of our community.”
The development of the State Street Corridor Plan began in early 2013 and the recommendations included in the plan reflect multiple, local stakeholder interviews; public input received at two public open houses; discussions with the State Street Corridor Plan Steering Committee; and land use and market analyses that were conducted as part of the planning process.
A complete version of the final draft document is available for public viewing on the City of Columbus website at www.columbus.in.gov. A hard copy of the plan is available for review in the Planning Department at 123 Washington Street during normal business hours Monday through Friday. A hard copy is also available for viewing at the Reference Desk at the Bartholomew County Public Library.
Once final public comments are addressed, the plan will begin the adoption process to become part of the City of Columbus Comprehensive Plan.
