The Indiana Avenue improvement project will kick off April 23 with a public meeting to discuss pre-construction activities and answer questions from the public. The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. April 23 in the Columbus East High School cafeteria.
The improvement project will widen Indiana Avenue, a main artery serving Columbus East High School, between State Street and Marr Road to provide one lane in each direction and add bicycle and parking lanes. Sidewalks will be constructed along both sides of the street, and storm water filtration areas and a storm sewer system will also be included.
“These improvements will make Indiana Avenue safer for residents who live on this street as well as the students and parents traveling to Columbus East High School,” Mayor Kristen Brown said. “Indiana Avenue handles a growing amount of traffic and is long overdue for these improvements.”
The public meeting will provide information about pre-construction activities that include right of way staking, clearing, and utility relocation. The public is welcome to attend to learn more about the project.
