A.    The chief of police of the police department is authorized to transfer ownership of the handguns carried by members of said department to retiring police officers with twenty years of service to said department.

    B.    The policy of the common council, shall be that only one handgun shall be transferred to each qualified retiring officer. (Prior code § 24-8)
