Section 2.22.040 Twenty-year firefighter longevity.

    A.    General Statement. This benefit shall apply to all firefighters who have no officer rank, paramedic rank, nor any other specialty rank which receives more than a firefighter's base salary, but who complete twenty years of service with the rank of firefighter in the city.
    B.    Policy. A firefighter for the city receives a first class firefighter's salary, as defined by Indiana Code 36-8-1-11, when completing twenty years of service, receiving all longevity increases of twenty years or less, as provided by the city, and earns upon his twentieth year an additional first class longevity.
This first class longevity is based upon an additional amount as determined annually by the clerk-treasurer and approved by the board of public works and safety which results in making the firefighter's retirement equal to the police officer's retirement.
The first class firefighter shall receive all other benefits as defined by police and fire personnel ordinances and policies which apply. (Ord. 94-57, 1994)
