A.    A committee for arts is created with a membership of no more than five persons appointed as follows:

    1.    Three members shall be appointed by the mayor;

    2.    Two members shall be appointed by the common council.

    B.    The terms of the members of the committee for arts shall be for a period of four years, with the initial terms being staggered such that at least one member shall be appointed every calendar year.

    C.    The committee for arts shall offer advice and make recommendations to the board of public works and safety concerning the purchase and maintenance of art work for the city.

    D.    The members of the committee for arts shall serve without compensation. (Prior code § 7-56)
