Section 5.08.070 Examination required--Exceptions.
5.08.070 Examination requiredExceptions.
Any person, electrical business or independent contractor desiring
to engage in electrical work
within the city shall be required to pass an examination before the Bartholomew County board of
electrician examiners concerning their ability, experience, training and fitness to engage in such line
of work. Licenses shall be issued without examination to applicants who on October 3, 1960, shall
have been actively engaged for at least three years immediately preceding such data in the actual
pursuit of the electrical trade, which facts shall be supported by the affidavit of such applicant
reciting the place or places and the approximate date or dates when and where such applicant has
pursued such occupation during such three-year period. A current electrician's license issued the
applicant by any city in the state shall be prima facie evidence of the qualifications of such
applicant to engage in the electrical business. If the person applying for a license is not qualified
for a license, he shall employ a licensed electrician at all times to supervise any work done under
such license. Such electrician shall be responsible to the city and to the owner or occupant of the
property jointly with the employer for compliance with all of the provisions of this chapter. (Prior
code § 6-16)
