The board of public works and safety is delegated the responsibility of supervising the operation of the city's mobile emergency and first aid unit, and such board is authorized and directed to acquire by purchase or gift a suitable mobile unit to furnish such emergency services, to hire and train a sufficient number of employees to adequately operate such mobile unit at all times and to provide suitable quarters for such employees and mobile unit.
