8.12.160 Establishment of fire lanes and fees.
    A.    The chief of police of the city and the fire chief of the city are given the authority jointly to receive evidence and applications concerning the establishment of fire lanes on private property devoted to public use and to make recommendations for establishment thereof to the board of public works and safety.
    B.    Within fifteen days after fire lanes are established, the owners and operators of business abutting such fire lanes may furnish all material and labor to mark same as specified by the board of public works and safety.
    C.    In the event such fire lanes are not marked in accordance with subsection B of this section, the owners and operators of businesses abutting such fire lanes shall pay the following fees:
    1.    Seventy-five dollars for the first two hundred feet or any part thereof;
    2.    Two dollars for each foot over two hundred feet.
    D.    In the event such fire lanes are not properly maintained by the owners and operators of businesses abutting the same, after fifteen days' written notice, such owners and operators shall pay the following fees:
    1.    Thirty dollars for the first two hundred feet or any part thereof;
    2.    One dollar and fifty cents for each foot over two hundred feet, plus the costs incurred for any sign materials. (Prior code § 8-7.1)
