Indiana 811, the Hoosier State’s “call before you dig” center, has partnered with the Common Ground Alliance for an important initiative called National Safe Digging Month each April for more than 10 years to coincide with the onset of peak digging season. The collaboration was designed to elevate the awareness of, and participation in, the prevention of digging-related damages to underground utilities.

Columbus residents are reminded to contact Indiana 811 by calling 811 or visiting to submit a request online, at least two full working days before starting any digging projects to prevent damage to the underground facilities, as well as the risk of injuries and service disruptions that can occur.
