The Columbus Fire Department releases Fire Department response totals for calendar year 2024. In 2024, the department responded to a total of 6,834 incidents, a 0.7% decrease from 2023 total calls.

The vast majority of Columbus Fire Department calls for service remain Emergency Medical calls. These calls accounted for 70.8% of all calls in 2024 while fire related calls accounted for only 2.0% of total calls.

Good Intent calls, used when a citizen calls in a potential hazard or concern and is determined to be safe by the responding fire companies, accounted for 12.2% of calls. Examples of these calls may be the report of a natural gas odor in a home and firefighters determine no gas is detected at the scene, or a residential smoke alarm activation with no smoke or flames in the home. False fire alarm calls accounted for 6.8% of total calls in 2024, up 2.0% from 2023.

We are happy to report that we saw a 8.0% decrease in fire calls and a 1.0% decrease in emergency medical calls in 2024.

We are profoundly honored to serve you in 2025 and we look forward to continuing our efforts in community risk reduction and operational efficiency to provide the best available services to our community.
