The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) announces the retirement of Battalion Chief Jeff Cain, a 28 year veteran of the department. Battalion Chief Cain joined the Columbus Fire Department in 1994.

During his career, Battalion Chief Cain rose through the ranks; earning officer promotions to Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain before being promoted to Battalion Chief in 2019. During his career, Battalion Chief Cain obtained certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Rope Rescue Technician, Vehicle and Machinery Extrication Technician and Fire Officer I.

Battalion Chief Cain retires from his current assignment at fire station # 1 as the highest ranking officer of Battalion C.  Battalion Chief Cain’s official retirement date is Friday, January 6, 2023. The Columbus Fire Department expresses our deep gratitude to Battalion Chief Cain, for his faithful years of service to the department and the community.
