This collaborative initiative, known as &#8220;Firefighters Fighting Hunger,&#8221; is endorsed by Indiana State Fire Marshal and is set to make a significant impact during Hunger Action Month.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Columbus firefighters, along with representatives from the Love Chapel Food Bank and the Salvation Army Food Bank, will be at the Columbus Kroger store to assist in the collection of non-perishable food items. Shoppers will have the opportunity to meet local firefighters and food bank representatives, who will provide &#8220;Shopping Lists&#8221; of the most needed items to encourage contributions that help fill the shelves at local food banks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are thrilled to partner with Love Chapel, the Salvation Army, and Kroger to address the critical issue of food insecurity in our community,&#8221; said Fire Chief Andy Lay. &#8220;These partnerships are vital in providing essential resources to those in need, and we are committed to working together to make a positive difference in the lives of our neighbors.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Firefighters Fighting Hunger&#8221; initiative aims to raise awareness and gather essential supplies for those struggling with hunger. By joining forces, the Columbus Fire Department and its partners are dedicated to taking action and making an impact during Hunger Action Month.<\/p>\n<p>Community members are encouraged to participate by visiting the Columbus Kroger store, engaging with local firefighters, and donating items from the provided shopping lists.
