There are so many ways that you can make a positive impact at the Columbus Animal Control Shelter. The Columbus Animal Control Department gratefully accepts donations for the pets housed at the shelter. Whether it is through donations of products, money or your time – anything you are willing to give is greatly appreciated.

Volunteer Opportunities:

If you would like to volunteer your time, you are always welcome out at the Animal Control Shelter! Please call us so we can discuss our current needs, your interests and set up a schedule to coordinate the two. [Note: The C.A.R.E. group also has other opportunities – such as helping with “meet a pet” days at the local Petco or becoming a ‘Foster family’ for a pet who is waiting for adoption.] Volunteers under 13 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while at the shelter. All volunteers must sign a liability waiver prior to working.

Here are just a few of the things that you could do out at the shelter:

  • Take a pet for a walk
  • Have ‘play time’ with a pet
  • Help feed the pets
  • Help clean up the kennels
  • Help with laundry
  • Check with the staff for other opportunities
