The Columbus Police Department encourages residents to help keep their neighborhoods safe by staying vigilant and reporting suspicious activity to local law enforcement.

The Neighborhood Watch can help residents join together in their efforts to stop crime. Residents are responsible for organizing and maintaining a Neighborhood Watch program. The Columbus Police Department can assist in establishing the program and partner with Neighborhood Watch groups.

Residents should never approach suspicious individuals or try to stop a crime from happening. However, residents can make a difference and help police by providing detailed descriptions of suspects and vehicles.

For more information about the Neighborhood Watch program, visit the National Neighborhood Watch Institute website or contact Columbus Police Lt. Matt Harris at 812-376-2605.
