Handgun and Pound of Meth Seized from Traffic Stop

JNET began looking into Logan Ashpaugh, 30 of North Vernon, after receiving information that he was dealing methamphetamine in the Bartholomew County area. On July

 13th, 2026, a Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) deputy and a trooper with the Indiana State Police (ISP) tried to stop Ashpaugh on I65 near Edinburgh. Ashpaugh fled in his vehicle, exited the interstate, and continued to try to evade officers near the Edinburgh Outlet Mall. ISP initiated a pursuit intervention technique, which quickly and safely ended the pursuit.

Ashpaugh was taken into custody. Columbus Police Department Canine Odin alerted, indicating there were drugs inside of Ashpaugh’s vehicle. A search uncovered a loaded handgun, one pound of methamphetamine, as well as marijuana.

Logan Ashpaugh was arrested and preliminarily charged with:

-Dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony

-Possession of methamphetamine, a level 3 felony

-Possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, a level 4 felony

-Resisting law enforcement with a prior conviction, a level 4 felony

-Possession of marijuana with a prior conviction, a class A misdemeanor

-Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a class A misdemeanor

During this investigation, JNET was assisted by ISP, Edinburgh Police Department, and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department.

The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office is proactively targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
