A 24-year-old man is in the Bartholomew County Jail for voyeurism after police were called to a local gym for a man recording in the women\u2019s room. At 8:07 p.m. on May 8th<\/sup>, 2025, Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers were called to Total Fitness, 3075 Middle Road. Officers gathered that an 8-year-old female saw someone holding a cell phone under the stall as she was showering. Employees then found Tanner Vandeman, of Columbus, inside a women\u2019s shower stall.<\/p>\n Employees and bystanders stayed with Vandeman until the officers arrived. The responding officers discovered Vandeman had recording equipment with him and had been convicted of voyeurism in the past.<\/p>\n Several electronic devices were taken and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted.<\/p>\n Vandeman was arrested for the preliminary charge of voyeurism as a level 6 felony.<\/p>\n After Vandeman was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division continued to look into the incident after Vandeman\u2019s arrest. They applied for and were granted a 72-hour hold for Vandeman on May 9th. Investigators also obtained a search warrant for the recording devices that were taken when Vandeman was arrested.<\/p>\n After reviewing the evidence and working with the Bartholomew County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, formal charges of child exploitation as a level 4 felony and voyeurism as a level 6 felony were filed in Bartholomew County Superior Court I today. Vandeman remains in jail on a $275,000 bond, as well as, a Johnson County arrest warrant.
