Project Summary:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The Walesboro Airport site is on the outskirts of the city in what is now mainly an industrial corridor. It was built in the 1950\u2019s as a response to World War Two and since that time, the site had seen only modest development. The airport property presents both opportunities and challenges due to its location and environmental features, particularly the existing test tracks and floodplain status.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/b><\/p>\n

The City of Columbus, Indiana, through its Airport Board and Future Site Development Team, invites qualified engineering and design professionals to submit Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) for the development of a Masterplan for the Walesboro Airport site. This masterplan will play a critical role in guiding the long-term development of the airport and surrounding land while providing insight into how best to address the economic, environmental, and infrastructural challenges of the site, including its floodplain constraints. The last Masterplan was done in 2015 and there was another small study done in 2019.<\/p>\n

What’s New?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Currently, we are working through contract negotiations for the Walesboro Airport Masterplan. We anticipate bringing forward the request for contract execution and firm selection at the March 24, 2025 CRC meeting.
