The City of Columbus happily offers medical insurance at only 50% of the City’s cost to its retired employees.  This is the same medical coverage enjoyed by active employees, and the retired employee is eligible for the coverage until they turn 65 or go onto other coverage.

The spousal carveout still applies for retired employee spouses, and the City will request the employment verification. Dependents of retired employees can remain on the coverage until age 26.

For employees considering retiring and retiree coverage, please make an appointment with Human Resources to go through all of your options.
