16 City of Columbus Firefighters completed a Swift Water Rescue training program on August 25, 2021.

The three-day course included plenty of time in the East Fork of the White River where students participated in numerous rescue scenarios utilizing equipment that included rescue rope systems, inflatable watercraft, and water rescue throw bags. All 16 students are scheduled to complete the state’s written test in September.

Currently, the Columbus Fire Department has 24 firefighters certified to the technician level.
