It is once again time for the annual Human Rights Commission’s Benjamin M. King Essay and J. Irwin Miller Art Contests. This year’s theme is “You Belong in Columbus.”

These contests are open to all Bartholomew County students in grades 5 – 12.

There are three divisions:

Division 1:  Elementary (grades 5 – 6)

Division 2:  Middle (grades 7 – 8)

Division 3:  High (grades 9 – 12)

Students must complete an official entry form to attach to their essays or art pieces.  The due date for all essays and art pieces is Monday, March 25, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Winners from each division will receive a $100 award, an award-winning book, and complimentary tickets to the Human Rights Annual Dinner!

We are also looking for community members to participate as volunteer judges in order to select the winners of our contests.  If you are interested in participating as a volunteer judge, please contact our office or fill out this volunteer inquiry form by Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
