Colton Ross (Badge CPD 312) joins the ranks as the Columbus Police Department’s newest officer. Earlier today, Ross was sworn in by Mayor Mary Ferdon at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting. Ross graduated from Jennings County High School before attending Indiana University Columbus. While studying criminal justice, he joined the Indiana University Police Department (IUPD) as a cadet. The following summer he completed the Indiana University Police Academy and continued to work for the past year as an IUPD part-time police officer. Last year, Ross completed a semester-long internship with the Columbus Police Department. Just last week, Ross graduated from IU Columbus with his bachelor’s degree.

Since Ross is already a certified police officer, he will immediately begin training with CPD instructors before hitting the streets for field training.
