Since May 2020, the City of Columbus has maintained two permanent bicycle and pedestrian counters along the People Trail network.  Using sensors in the asphalt and in a vertical column next to the trail, the counters collect data about user type (bicyclist or pedestrian), the date and time of trail use, and the direction of travel. These counters help the City track trends in bicycle and pedestrian travel over time and understand activity patterns on different sections of the People Trail network. The bicycle and pedestrian counters were purchased thanks to the financial support of Columbus Regional Health-Healthy Communities and CAMPO (the Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization).

The maps below show the locations of the City’s two bicycle and pedestrian counters, one located along the Haw Creek People Trail and the other located along the Jonathan Moore Pike People Trail.  Below the maps you will find a selection of the count data collected in 2020 and 2021.
