Columbus Fire Department Retirement Announcement

The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) announces the retirement of Battalion Chief Terry Whitis, a 33 year veteran of the department. Battalion Chief Whitis joined the Columbus Fire Department in 1989. During his career, Battalion Chief Whitis rose through the ranks; earning officer promotions to Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain before being promoted to Battalion Chief in 2016. Whitis is a state certified Paramedic and Hazardous Materials Technician.  Battalion Chief Whitis retires from his current post at fire station # 1 as the highest ranking officer of Battalion A. Battalion Chief Whitis’ official retirement date is Friday, August 5, 2022.
