Death Investigation at Mill Race Park

Columbus Police Department detectives continue to investigate the death of a 39-year-old Seymour man that occurred at Mill Race yesterday. Just before 2 pm on June 25th, 2026, CPD officers, the Columbus Fire Department, and emergency medical personnel were called to the observation tower at Mill Race Park near 5th and Lindsey Streets. The initial callers reported that a man had jumped from the tower and was not breathing.

First responders quickly arrived and found the man deceased. Investigators and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Officer were called to the tower. The park was closed while the scene was processed. The investigation is ongoing but has not uncovered any indicators of foul play at this point.
