The Columbus Police Department has a cadet program, which is designed for young people in high school. The cadet program exposes young people to all aspects of law enforcement work such as patrol, criminal investigations, traffic direction and control, emergency management, and public relations.

Enrollment Requirements:

  • Must be an incoming sophomore, junior, or senior in high school
  • Must have a clean juvenile record
  • Must have minimum GPA of 2.5
  • A willingness to be enrolled in the program and a positive attitude

We are not currently accepting applications for police cadets. Applications will reopen in 2027.
