Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program is a federal initiative to help support local communities at the state, city and county levels in their efforts to develop viable urban communities through housing, economic development, and quality of life and place. This program specifically targets efforts directed towards low- to moderate-income earners in local communities.
Authorized under Title 1 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and managed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), this program was designed to provide communities with adaptable federal funding to tackle important local issues, prioritize projects that enhance the lives of low- and moderate-income residents, and support broader community development goals.
