CPD Hires New Officer

The Columbus Police Department welcomed its newest officer, Allen Cummings (CPD 306), this morning when he was sworn in by Mayor Mary Ferdon at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting. Cummings has lived in Columbus most of his life, attending Columbus North High School before joining the U.S. Army.

While in the Army, Cummings served as a combat medic specialist and then tank maintainer. After 6 years of active duty, Cummings moved back to Columbus with his family and now serves in the Army Reserves as a military police officer.

Over the next few weeks Cummings will undergo training with CPD instructors before going to the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in May.
