2024 Patrol Officer’s Salary: $70,000.00 – $89,600.00

• Specialty Pay……………up to $3,000.00 per year*
• Clothing Allowance ….$900.00 per year
• College Incentive Pay…up to $2850.00 annually

• Patrol Officers Work 8.5 Hour Shift with Every Other Weekend Off
• 20 Year Retirement Eligibility– 52% of First-Class Patrolman Salary (Maximum of 76% at 32 Years of Service) City Pays 50% of Employee’s Share in Addition to City’s Cost
• Take-home Vehicle Use in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, and Shelby Counties
• Officers are Permitted to Have Beards and Visible Tattoos (excluding face, neck and hands)

*Payable after probationary year

New officers rotate for one year before becoming eligible to bid on shift assignments.
