An Ohio man is in the Bartholomew County Jail for forgery and multiple warrants after trying to run from the police. On March 26th, 2025 at 2:33 p.m., Columbus Police Department (CPD) officers were called to a local bank in the 1900 block of 25th Street about a possible fraud. An employee at the bank reported a man was there trying to cash a fraudulent check for almost $2,000. When officers arrived, the man took off running, but was quickly apprehended.
After he was captured, he was identified as Edward Seabolt, 48 from Columbus, Ohio. Seabolt had a warrant for his arrest from Hancock County, Indiana for counterfeiting, and two warrants for his arrest from Ohio.
Seabolt was taken to the hospital to be evaluated before being taken to the jail. He was preliminarily charged with:
-Forgery, a level 6 felony
-Resisting law enforcement, an A misdemeanor
-Hancock County felony warrant
-Two Ohio felony warrants
