Black History Month Columbus, founded by local Black-led organizations, is about celebrating Black culture, telling the true stories of Black history, and honoring the legacy and accomplishments of the Black community. It focuses on stories of resilience and reflects on Black success in the face of injustice. It aims to create momentum for community healing through inspiring and educational experiences.

Black history is American history and Black History Month is for everyone. As one of Indiana’s oldest cities, and with Black settlements dating back to the early 1800s, Black History Month Columbus presents a number of ways to honor and learn more about Black history and heritage, such as visiting historic sites and exhibits, participating in Black History Month events, and supporting Black-owned businesses and restaurants throughout the city. Visit the website for a full list of community events celebrating Black History Month Columbus.
