On March 12, the City of Columbus, Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, Bartholomew County and Strand Associates received the ACEC Indiana 2019 Engineering Excellence Award. David Hayward, Executive Director of Public Works/City Engineer and Mark Jones, Director of Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, along with several additional City staff and members of the project team from Strand Associates, were on hand to receive the award.

The award was given in recognition of the work completed last year by Strand Associates on the Haw Creek People Trail extension, which included the restoration and relocation of a 107 year old historic steel truss bridge to span Haw Creek near Lincoln Park and Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.

This award is made each year by ACEC Indiana to recognize an outstanding engineering achievement that demonstrates a high degree of merit and ingenuity.  Details and photos of these and other award-winning projects may be viewed at http://www.acecindiana.org.
