Columbus, IN – The City of Columbus is pleased to announce Jim Hartsook as the new Director of Information Technology. With an extensive background in managing and leading IT initiatives, Jim brings a wealth of experience that will greatly contribute to the technological advancement of the city. He will begin his new role at the city on February 24, 2025.
Jim Hartsook, who previously served as the IS Manager of End-Point Services at Columbus Regional Hospital (CRH), has a proven track record of successfully guiding complex IT projects and initiatives. He also led significant IT projects, including setting up nearly 500 devices for the relocation of 15 medical practices to the new NexusPark location and managing the migration of over 500 users in preparation for system upgrades. His efforts have improved workflows and service efficiency.
Prior to his role at CRH, Jim was the Director of Information Technology for Bartholomew County Government. There, he oversaw IT for over 450 users and introduced a phone system that saved the county more than $89,000 each year. His work in modernizing technology has cut costs and improved services. In his new role, Hartsook will work on improving the city’s IT systems, encouraging new solutions, and ensuring efficient service for the community.
Jim holds a B.S. in Education/Sport Enterprise Management, with a minor in marketing, from Bowling Green State University. Originally from Lebanon, Ohio, he has been a resident of Columbus since 1998. Hartsook and his wife, Tawny, are proud parents of three sons: Coleman, Carson, and Connor.
