Big Crowds, Big Heat: Celebrate 250 Tea Day Highlights Community Spirit
Columbus’ Celebrate 250 continued Monday with Tea Day, drawing thousands of visitors to the former Sears parking lot despite an extreme heat warning across the region.
Held in conjunction with the Columbus Downtown Food Truck Festival, Tea Day ran from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and featured 18 food trucks, two cooling stations, multiple misting stations, free water, and ample seating for guests seeking relief from the heat. Live entertainment filled the festival area throughout the day, while a vendor fair from 4 to 8 p.m. added to the activity lineup.
Hotel Indigo also joined the celebration, hosting live music and an outdoor gathering where attendees could play yard games and visit the hotel’s bar and restaurant for refreshments and adult beverages.
Organizers said the strong turnout, despite soaring temperatures, demonstrated the community’s enthusiasm for Celebrate 250 as the weeklong commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary continued.
