To help promote public health in Bartholomew County, Columbus Area Arts Council has launched The Mask Project.
This project is supported by a collective grant from Heritage Fund – the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County, Columbus Regional Health and Healthy Communities Proyecto Salud Action Team.
The Mask Project is engaging local artists and designers to create custom fabric patterns for face masks that are not only useful, but also fun and fashionable. Many creative professionals have been affected by COVID-19, and this project creates a new opportunity within the local creative economy. Through The Mask Project we hope artists and designers can serve not only as leaders and ambassadors of arts and culture, but also of public health.
Participating artists: Shorf Afza, Steven Baker, Victoria Bell, Britt Brewer, Brooke Hawkins, Yoonji Jung, Rachel Kavathe, Jenni Kiesler, LAA Office [Lulu Loquidis and Daniel Martinez], Pierre Obando, Bobbie K Owens, Michele Pollock, Jennifer Riley, Daren Redman, Chris Sullivan, Melanie Brock, Stacy Hardy, Mark Kebasso and Priscilla Rocha.
With the help of volunteers, CAAC aims to produce 7,500 free masks that will be available from safe pick-up locations throughout Bartholomew County. If you are interested in volunteering to make masks, please contact us at info@artsincolumbus.org.
